Kanye West is back on Instagram, and he has a bone to pick with Adidas.
On Monday, June 13, Ye returned to IG with a vengeance, claiming that the Three Stripes’ new Adilette Slide 22 is a knockoff of his Yeezy Slide.
“IT’S YOU driving down the same street Kobe passed on,” Kanye began in the caption of the post, which features an image of Adidas’ latest slide template. “Maybe I’m feeling that Mamba spirit right now[.] To [Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted] I can’t stand this blatant copying anymore[.] To the whole sneaker culture[.] To all the ball-playing rappers or even if you work at the store[.] This is for anyone who wants to express themselves but feels they can’t because they will lose their contract or be called crazy[.]”
Kanye continued, “Bravery is not being afraid.[.] Bravery overcomes your fear for your truth[.] That Ye with the blue paint on my face[.] These shoes represent the disrespect people in power have for talent[.] This shoe is a fake Yeezy made by adidas themselves[.] I don’t talk to DC about it either[.] Kasper come talk to me Happy Monday.”
XXL has contacted Adidas for comment.
Kanye West joined Adidas in 2013, after breaking his contract with Nike. The partnership has been hugely lucrative for the Chicago native whose shoes have gained a cult following. Adidas also produces its Yeezy Slide.
This is just Kanye West’s second Instagram post since his account was suspended for 24 hours last March. In May, Ye posted about a collaboration with McDonald’s.
