Editor’s Notes: Two icons of American culture, Converse and Peanuts have teamed up to create a new sneaker collaboration.
Since its inception in 1950, 17,897 strips of Peanuts have been released, making it the longest story ever told and Converse adding to it. The latest collection brings iconic comic book imagery to two of its signature sneaker designs.
Charlie Brown (who coincidentally shares Chuck’s moniker with Converse’s signature model) and the rest of the Peanuts gang were chosen by the American shoe brand to bring their unwavering positivity to a selection of sneakers.
In particular, the collection focuses on Woodstock, a small yellow bird who was Snoopy’s sidekick. The character is repeatedly printed on the upper of his Chuck 70 sneaker in different yellow hues to create a playful camo print that covers the upper. The classic shoe is then completed with more personalization in the form of Peanuts branding on the tongue and a license plate-style tab on the midsole heel.
Joining the Chucks is another pair of Converse’s signature shoes, the One Star. This one takes a more understated approach, in a black colourway with a rubber sole. On the sides of the shoes, Snoopy and Woodstock stand shelter from the rain under the star pattern of the shoes.
Both sneakers come in a personalized box with the iconic comic printed on them, featuring Charlie Brown called by his nickname “Chuck”.
