Vans have been around forever. In fact, the now iconic Old Skool silhouette debuted in 1977 and was dubbed “Style 36”, and was the brand’s first shoe to incorporate the recognizable “jazz stripe”. It’s an absolute classic, as timeless as it is iconic.
As for Kim Kardashian, the star has built up an impressive Vans arsenal since her split from ex-husband Kanye West, and has been seen wearing both the black-and-white Old Skool, and a monochromatic white iteration, as well as the Slip-On in the signature checkerboard pattern.
It’s clear she’s put Ye’s adidas YEEZY collabs on the shelf for now, and as her relationship with Pete Davidson continues to grow stronger, Kardashian is taking pages (or sneakers?) SNL comedians book.
Another star who has been spotted reaching for Vans is none other than Rihanna, who was recently spotted in a shiny CELINE puffer jacket with matching Old Skool shoes on her feet.
It’s perhaps no surprise that Rih is rocking Vans, considering her baby daddy and boyfriend A$AP Rocky collaborated with the shoe brand to create Slip-On mules last year, and made the brand praise in previous interviews.
With so many collaborations and new sneakers releasing every week, the shoe market has become so oversaturated that it’s time to get back to the classics. The best part? A pair of Old Skools retail for an affordable $60, which is refreshing considering designer sneaker collaborations are only getting more expensive.
