What got you started in theatre?

I started acting when I was nine or ten, when my friend at the time convinced me to do a community theater show with her. I finally accepted because I always liked to sing and when I was little I liked to have the attention.

What do you like the most in theatre?

I think what I love most about acting is that you can be whoever you want when you’re on stage, especially when being yourself in our world is exceptionally difficult.

Marki Hietpas recently took the stage in his dream role in Next Chapter Actors’ production of Falsettos.

What shows have you participated in?

As far as what I’ve done, I’ve done way too many musicals to count, a handful of plays, and I sing with the Knights on Broadway on campus.

Do you plan to continue acting after your studies?

I hope to continue doing some kind of theatrical endeavors well into adulthood, work permitting. Otherwise, I have no intention of stopping singing or listening to show tunes! »

What do you think are the six words that best describe you?

The six words that best describe me are funny, compassionate, loud, confident, expressive, and social.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I like to paint, draw and do other art-related things outside of acting.

What is the best advice you have received?

Put everything into perspective. You never know what someone else is going through.

Where do you hope to one day visit?

Poland, only because they have a city with the same name as me.

What advice would you give to other students considering starting in theatre?

Don’t compare yourself to others, each brings different talents and abilities to the stage and they are valuable in their own way!

What’s your favorite thing you’ve ever done with theatre?

Performing in the musical Falsettos. It’s one of my favorite series and the first time I’ve played in a dream role!

What are your plans after college?

I plan on going to graduate school for my masters in social work, then hopefully get a job at a homeless shelter or something.

What is your earliest childhood memory?

My earliest childhood memory is probably watching Gilligan’s Island on DVD with my sister and re-enacting the opening song.

Your favorite Halloween costume?

I think my favorite has to be when I went as Frank ‘N Furter from the Rocky Horror Picture Show last year!

Which statement do you agree with: the movie was better than the book or the book is always better than the movie?

The book is ALWAYS BETTER than the movie!

Who is your greatest role model?

Definitely my mother. He is the kindest, smartest and hardest working person I have ever met.
